Starbucks VIA Ready Brew

Starbucks now offers a line of “Ready Brew” drinks that you simply put in water and go. I have tried some of the coffees and enjoy them quite a bit. They’re handy and convenient and perfect for drinking on the go. One drink I’m eager to try is the caramel flavored iced coffee!

Starbucks states:

Using 100% natural roasted arabica beans, we created a blend of instant and microground coffee that is specially designed for mixing with cold water. Then we added just the right amount of buttery, velvety caramel flavor and pure cane sugar for the perfect balance of refreshment and sweetness

Since I’m a huge fan of: caramel, Starbucks, coffee and iced coffee I have to try to this soon! It sounds like the perfect Christmas stocking stuffer for the coffee drinkers in my life as well.

Topeca Coffee – Is All the Hype True?

I have many friends who swear by Topeca Coffee. They say it is the most delicious, most satisfying cup of coffee around, and sadly I have not tried it. Topeca coffee shops are currently located in EL Salvador and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Their products are also available online.

I did a bit of research and read Topeca Coffee is a family-owned roasting company with over 150 years of experience. They coffee they produce is El Salvadoran coffee from the slopes of the Santa Ana Volcano. Their motto is to focus on a “seed-to-cup” process.

Another intriguing about Topeca is they are currently offering a home brewing kit – just in time for the Holidays! This adorable gift box comes packed with everything needed to make a perfect cup of Joe. It includes a Hario mini mill slim, a Hario pour over, a box of Hario paper filter and two bags of your favorite coffee.

I’m eager to try Topeca and as I currently reside in Tulsa, it is a shame I have not tried it yet. I think I shall go there tomorrow and see how it measures up!

When the holidays or birthdays come around there is nothing better to give the coffee lover than a coffee gift. It is the one gift that is sure to please and will last for more than a day. The recipient is sure to think of the giver every time they enjoy their coffee.

There are many different coffee products that can be used as gifts, each one sure to please. There are coffee maker accessories, coffee makers, gourmet and flavored coffees and much more. The gifts listed here are just a few of the ideas for giving a coffee gift.

Coffee Club Membership: A coffee club membership is one way to guarantee that the gift is enjoyed over and over again. Coffee clubs deliver fresh, gourmet coffees directly to the recipient’s home on a monthly basis for as many or as few months as the giver chooses. Gourmet coffee clubs send a different selection of coffees each month along with the option to purchase those same coffees at reduced prices. If the recipient is particularly fond of certain coffees, the giver can often customize the gift to include only those types or to include only decaffeinated if necessary. Some clubs send whole beans while others send only freshly ground coffee.

Gourmet Coffee: If a coffee club membership is a bit more than necessary, a gourmet coffee selection packed in a pretty basket or box makes an excellent gift. Choose a coffee that the recipient would not normally purchase them self due to cost or a signature blend that they really enjoy. Sampler baskets can be created using sample packets of various gourmet coffees, add some biscotti or a sweet treat and the perfect coffee gift has been created.

Coffee Accessories: Visit the local kitchen store or gourmet coffee shop and browse the selection of coffee accessories that are available for gift giving. There are beautiful coffee carafes for keeping coffee warm, heating units to warm coffee at the office and a large assortment of coffee mugs and insulated cups. Milk frothers and steamers make a great gift for the cappuccino or latte lover while designer tampers make great gifts for the espresso maker. Permanent filter baskets that eliminate the need for paper filters are another great gift idea. There are literally hundreds of gift ideas in the accessory section.

Coffee and Espresso Makers: If a nicer gift is needed, there are a hundreds of coffee makers that would make a great gift. Single cup brewers, espresso makers, French Presses and percolators are all different types of coffee makers that make wonderful gifts for that special person. When unsure what to get in terms of a coffee maker, a gift certificate to the shop is a great idea that lets the person choose their own.

Gift Cards: Coffee shop gift cards are another great gift idea for the coffee lover. These can be loaded with any amount and used for purchases in the coffee shop. Most coffee gift cards can be reloaded by the owner and used over and over again.

Coffee gifts are great to give and receive, especially with the variety of coffee products and accessories available on the market today. Give the gift that keeps giving every morning with a coffee gift.

First, you have beans that could come all the way from Africa, which are renowned for their wine-like undertones and their wild hints of the jungle. Central America will ship you beans with a smooth taste and an even well balanced flavor. The beans from Brazil, which most Americans drink all the time without knowing, will be the top-notch kind you can’t find in a can, with the same familiar and reassuring flavor but accentuated. But whether it’s you receiving the coffee of the month club, or your dearest friends, you can’t completely enjoy your 12 annual presents without properly knowing how to make the coffee.

The key to getting the utmost out of your coffee of the month club is setting up your drip coffee machines with a gold, nylon, or other type of permanent filter. Such permanent filters ensure that the essential flavor and oils of the coffee grinds make their way through the filter and into the water. What’s more, these permanent filters accomplish this without adding unwanted nasty tastes.

Paper filters will do just that to your delicious blends from the coffee of the month club. Paper filters leave an aftertaste into your morning cup of joe. Paper filters also absorb some of the special flavor molecules and aromatic oils from your coffee grinds. You lose these, and you lose the java’s tantalizing taste. If you must use paper filters, rinse them with hot water beforehand. Better yet, use permanent filters. You may need to clean them before each use, but it will be well worth it.

Also, when brewing your coffee of the month club varieties in a drip coffee machine, grind them to a medium to fine grinds of coffee. Always start with cold water, and make sure that your coffee machine is fine tuned to being the water to the proper “cooking” temperature. The proper water temperature is between 195 degrees and 205 degrees, which guarantees that the best coffee ground extraction. And then follow one last rule before you can actually taste your delicious new coffees: dump the grounds from the filter before the last couple of drops of water drip through.
