A coffee cup is typically a one handled container that is made from ceramic or glass. Ceramic is the best choice for coffee cups because it holds heat well and doesn’t break as easily as glassware does. The popularity of coffee and specialized coffee drinks has also created a range of specialty beverage ware.

Demitasse cups are designed especially for espresso and cappuccino mugs are perfect for holding the voluminous liquid and frothy milk of a cappuccino. These specialty cups can be found many coffee shops and homes with espresso drinkers. The average coffee drinker doesn’t have a preference on whether or not they drink from an espresso mug or demitasse cup when they are at home, unless they are serving guests.

The coffee cup can take on many shapes, sizes and colors. Some are whimsical and fun, decorated with characters, logos and even photos. They can be found as small as a demitasse cup all the way up to sizes that can hold as much as a bowl of soup. Fancy coffee cups are available that are tall and slender with beautiful pedestal bases or trimmed in gold and silver with elegant handles and matching saucers.

The popularity of the coffee cup has made it a marketing tool that many businesses use to reach potential clients. The cups are branded with the company’s name and logo and give away at marketing events to spread the company’s name around. Travel coffee cups are particularly popular as marketing tools because they are used in public everyday which gives the logo more exposure.

In addition to the ceramic and glass coffee cups that are found in homes and businesses there are disposable coffee cups that are used in restaurants and coffee shops for carry out customers. These are usually made of Styrofoam or heavily insulated paper that keeps the coffee warm while at the same time being disposable.

The coffee cup is a common piece of beverage ware that is found in practically every home. In fact, it is not uncommon to find a multitude of different coffee cups in the kitchen cabinets in addition to the coffee cups that match the dinnerware.
